Cool Show!

Last minute tix thanx to Andy Hawk to see Green Day in Oakland last night. The brand new Fox Theatre is already one of the best places in California to see a show. The Fox used to be a movie theatre that had been shut for about twenty years. The guys in Green Day grew up in NorCal & so they knew the place well. Billy Joe didn’t talk to the crowd much but he pointed out about the venue “Thirty-five years & $90 million later, and they did a pretty nice job with the place!”
Green Day played the entire 21st CENTURY BREAKDOWN album from start to finish! Maybe it was the excitement of the show or the energy in the room, but I thought EVERY SONG was amazing. You got a program when you came in so you could follow along. They took a break and played some older stuff including American Idiot, Jesus Of Suburbia, She, Longview, King For A Day & Home.

Oh yeah, Butch Vig who produced the album (and who also produced Nirvana’s Nevermind) was at the soundboard. I told him I was a big fan and shook his hand. Laith The Intern got a pic!
